Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the royal scion and founder of the Tipra Motha Party, is gearing up for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections with a strong focus on ensuring a victory for his regional party. This move is seen as a clear stance against national parties by Debbarma.
At a mass joining event held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, more than 1,200 individuals, the majority of whom were former BJP members, officially joined the Tipra Motha Party. Debbarma used this platform to convey a powerful message, stating, “If you want to earn money and fame, a national political party is the easiest way. But if you have come here for the betterment of upcoming generations, then a national party won’t give Tiprasa that right.”
He went on to emphasize the party’s objective of electing an indigenous Chief Minister for Tripura and criticized national parties for overlooking local leadership. Debbarma pointed out, “There is not a single leader from BJP, Congress, or CPIM who has fought for the Tiprasa. Not a single national party wants to make a Chief Minister from the indigenous community. They want a rubber stamp.”
Debbarma also raised concerns about the delays in local governance, specifically highlighting the nine-year delay in Village Council elections. He mentioned, “We have gone to the High Court. The judgment has also been given to conduct VC polls. The State Election Commission also said they would do it, but they didn’t. Now I have moved to the Supreme Court, and I believe SC will give us justice.”
Accusing the BJP of attempting to weaken his party’s influence, Debbarma vowed to not give the BJP a single seat in the upcoming TTAADC and VC elections. He expressed his determination for the regional party to emerge victorious and prevent a national party from gaining ground in the TTAADC. Drawing a comparison to Bodoland, Debbarma stated, “In Bodoland, the world’s biggest party became the smallest party. If they want to be the biggest party, their heart must be big, but their heart is small.”
With the TTAADC elections on the horizon, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma and the Tipra Motha Party are set on securing a significant win and asserting their presence in regional politics.
