AGARTALA | July 5, 2026: Showing deep compassion for a family navigating a devastating medical crisis, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Rajya Sabha, Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee, stepped forward today to support a young girl from the state who has been battling a critical, long-term illness. The lawmaker visited her family residence to provide immediate financial relief and facilitate specialized high-level clinical care.
The patient, identified as Manashree Debnath, is a resident of the Badharghat locality in Agartala and has been suffering from a complex, life-threatening ailment that requires advanced, expensive medical interventions.
Compassionate Doorstep Outreach and Immediate Cash Relief
Upon receiving urgent updates regarding Manashree’s deteriorating health and the family’s growing financial exhaustion from mounting medical bills, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee visited her Badharghat home today.
During his visit, the MP sat with Manashree, reviewed her ongoing clinical reports with family members, and handed over an initial cash assistance package to help the family manage immediate diagnostic costs and essential pharmaceutical supplies.
”Our heart goes out to young Manashree Debnath, who has been showing incredible resilience in her fight against this severe illness. No family should have to compromise on life-saving medical care due to a lack of funds. While we have provided immediate personal assistance today, our responsibility does not end here. We have already initiated formal paperwork with central authorities to ensure she receives advanced treatment at a premier national institute. The state and central leadership will stand firmly by this family until she fully recovers,” Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee stated to reporters.
Moving PM’s Relief Fund for Advanced National Treatment
Recognizing that the total expenditure for Manashree’s long-term specialized treatment far exceeds regular household means, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee took an important step to ensure institutional support. During his visit, he formally handed over a copy of an official recommendation letter addressed to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The MP has formally requested a substantial financial grant from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to cover the advanced surgical or clinical procedures required at a super-specialty hospital outside the state. The local community leaders and neighbors expressed their deep gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the MP’s direct involvement has brought renewed hope to the family.
