AGARTALA: With the 77th Republic Day just 48 hours away, the spirit of patriotism has reached its peak in the capital city. Today, the final full-dress rehearsal for the state-level Republic Day parade was held at the historic Assam Rifles Ground (Astable Ground). The Director General of Tripura Police (DGP), Anurag Dhankar, was present to personally oversee the proceedings and ensure the highest standards of precision and security.
Final Rehearsal: A Display of Discipline
The rehearsal featured a synchronized march-past by various security and non-security platoons. DGP Dhankar, accompanied by senior police officials, inspected the parade and took the salute from the marching contingents.
The participating platoons included:
- Security Forces: Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Tripura Police (Men & Women), Border Security Force (BSF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
- Youth & Auxiliaries: National Cadet Corps (NCC), Scouts and Guides, and students from several prominent schools in Agartala.
- Special Attractions: Colorful tableaux representing various government departments and their developmental achievements were also showcased during the dry run.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, DGP Anurag Dhankar expressed his satisfaction with the preparations. “Our personnel have been training rigorously for the past 20 days. The coordination between the security forces and the student units is commendable. We are ready to celebrate the Republic Day with full honor and dignity,” the DGP stated.
Security Blankets Across Tripura
In light of the celebrations, DGP Dhankar confirmed that a multi-tier security arrangement has been deployed state-wide.
- Border Vigil: Patrolling along the India-Bangladesh border has been intensified to prevent any cross-border miscreant activity.
- Urban Security: In Agartala, CCTV surveillance has been increased, and “Naka” points (checkpoints) have been established at all entry and exit routes of the city.
- Intelligence Wing: The state intelligence branch is working in close coordination with central agencies to maintain a strict vigil on suspicious movements.
Republic Day Itinerary
On January 26, the main event at the Assam Rifles Ground will see the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, unfurling the National Flag and receiving the ceremonial salute. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and other high-ranking dignitaries are scheduled to attend the ceremony.
The program will also feature award distributions for distinguished service and vibrant cultural performances by school children, celebrating the theme of “Viksit Bharat” and Tripura’s unique cultural heritage.
