AGARTALA: Marking the grand commencement of one of Tripura’s most iconic and deeply revered cultural-religious festivals, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha offered prayers at the historic Chaturdasha Devata Mandir (Fourteen Gods Temple) in Khayerpur, Old Agartala, today. inaugurating the week-long annual Kharchi Puja and exhibition celebrations.
Amid traditional drum beats, chanting of sacred mantras, and high spiritual enthusiasm, thousands of devotees gathered at the temple premises from early morning to seek blessings from the fourteen patron deities.
CM Prays for Harmony, Peace, and Prosperity
After participating in the inaugural rituals and paying homage to the ancestral deities, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha addressed the gathering and extended his warm greetings to the people of Tripura and visiting pilgrims.
”Kharchi Puja stands as a timeless symbol of communal harmony, cultural unity, and mutual respect between indigenous tribal communities and non-tribal populations of our state. I pray to the Chaturdasha Devata for the overall peace, happiness, and rapid developmental progress of Tripura,” the Chief Minister stated.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by several prominent administrative and civic leaders, including:
- Dipak Majumder: Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA
- Ratan Chakraborty: MLA and Senior Leader
- Abhishek Debroy: Tripura Pradesh BJP President
- Top district officials and community representatives.
The administration has put in place elaborate security arrangements, medical aid counters, traffic diversions, and civic facilities to manage the massive influx of pilgrims and tourists arriving from across the state and neighboring regions during the seven-day festival.
