AGARTALA: Raising a unified voice against police action on peaceful demonstrators in the national capital, three prominent organizations—the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO), All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO), and All India Mahila Sanskritik Sanghatana (AIMSS)—staged a joint protest rally and demonstration near the Agartala City Centre today.
Activists and members from all three organizations gathered near Paradise Chowk and the City Centre area, holding placards and banners while raising slogans against police high-handedness and the suppression of democratic rights.
Protesters Slam Brutality and Demand Accountability
Speaking at the demonstration, organizational leaders strongly condemned the recent police crackdown on students and activists protesting in New Delhi. They alleged that using force to silence peaceful, democratic agitations exposes an authoritarian approach by the authorities.
Key Points Highlighted During the Demonstration:
- Condemnation of Police Action: The leadership denounced the use of force, lathi-charge, and detentions targeting peaceful demonstrators in Delhi.
- Protection of Democratic Rights: Speakers emphasized that the right to peaceful assembly and protest is guaranteed under the Indian Constitution and must not be trampled upon by security forces.
- Call for Immediate Action: The joint platform demanded an immediate halt to police intimidation against student and youth groups, urging central authorities to address the core grievances of the protesters rather than suppressing their voices.
The demonstration concluded with a resolve to intensify nationwide solidarity actions if the democratic rights of peaceful agitators continue to be curtailed.
