The Police Commemoration Day observance took place at the Manoranjan Debbarma Memorial Stadium in AD Nagar, Agartala, where CM Saha, along with senior police officials and personnel from across the state, laid wreaths in honor of the fallen officers.
During the ceremony, CM Saha praised the Tripura Police for their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state. He reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting the welfare of police personnel and their families, recognizing their crucial role in protecting society.
The event was marked by a moment of silence as officers paid their respects to their fallen comrades. CM Saha highlighted the enduring legacy of these courageous men and women, whose selfless service continues to inspire future generations of law enforcement officers.
Police Commemoration Day is observed annually on October 21 throughout India to commemorate the sacrifices of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. The significance of this date dates back to 1959 when ten Indian policemen were ambushed and killed by the Chinese Army at Hot Springs in Ladakh. In recognition of their bravery, the DGsP/IGsP Conference of 1962 declared October 21 as a national day of remembrance for their valor and sacrifice.
