A complaint has been lodged against Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of Agartala Smart City Limited (ASCL), alleging that he disseminated false and defamatory information about a legitimate survey conducted by the Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) and the Revenue Department, Government of Tripura.
The complaint outlines that the Revenue Department (LR Cell) issued a memorandum on October 13, 2025, in accordance with the THRC’s order, directing a survey team from the Agartala East Revenue Circle to investigate encroachments around the MBB College Lake. The team comprised of the Deputy Collector & Magistrate (DCM), Revenue Inspector, Surveyor, and Tehsildar, with the survey scheduled for October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Complainants Shri Nikhil Debnath and Shri Jayanta Bhattacharjee, accompanied by their legal counsel and representatives from various media outlets, attended the survey to ensure transparency and adherence to government directives. However, on the same day, ASCL, under Dr. Yadav’s authority, posted a statement on its official Facebook page accusing individuals claiming to represent the THRC of unauthorized entry and spreading misinformation at the MBB Lake.
The complainants have labeled this statement as false, unfounded, and defamatory, asserting that it was a deliberate effort to deceive the public, undermine the THRC, and intimidate government officials carrying out a lawful order. They allege that Dr. Yadav’s actions constitute misconduct, abuse of power, and obstruction of justice.
Citing various Supreme Court rulings, the complainants have called on the Chief Secretary to investigate Dr. Yadav’s conduct, retract the misleading Facebook post, and take appropriate disciplinary measures against him for misrepresentation and hindering a lawful investigation.
Furthermore, it is alleged that Dr. Yadav inaugurated the MBB College Park without informing Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, and Mayor Dipak Majumder about the THRC’s directive not to officially open the disputed park. The complainants view this as a serious violation of administrative ethics and an attempt to undermine a statutory body’s authority, urging immediate action from the state government and relevant oversight agencies.
