Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha recently conducted a high-level meeting with Union Health Minister and BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi to discuss crucial initiatives geared towards fortifying the healthcare sector in the state.
During the meeting, Dr. Saha took to social media to announce that he had put forth a proposal for the establishment of a new Medical College at Kulai in Dhalai, an aspirational district in Tripura, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Additionally, he suggested the establishment of a Tertiary Ophthalmology Hospital in Agartala to elevate specialized medical care services in the region.
The Chief Minister also advocated for the approval of an Immunology Laboratory for Organ Transplant Services at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) & GBP Hospital, which would enhance Tripura’s capability to perform advanced medical procedures. Furthermore, he requested funding for state-of-the-art medical equipment at the Super Speciality Block of AGMC and additional financial assistance under the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to settle pending claims.
If these proposals are given the green light, it is anticipated that healthcare accessibility and quality in Tripura will witness a substantial improvement, particularly benefiting patients residing in remote and aspirational districts throughout the state. The implementation of these initiatives could potentially revolutionize the healthcare landscape in Tripura, making advanced medical services more readily available to its citizens.
