AGARTALA: In a major push toward boosting financial literacy, empowering youth, and creating a robust investment ecosystem, the Government of Tripura signed three strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) today at Pragna Bhavan, Hall-1, Agartala.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest, joined by state department officials, industry representatives, and educational heads. The MoUs were formally executed between the National Stock Exchange and three key state entities: the State Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (SIPARD), the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, and the Directorate of Skill Development.
Key Objectives & Highlights of the MoUs:
- Capital Market Literacy & Youth Training: The collaboration focuses on joint curriculum development in capital markets, mutual funds, insurance, and investment advisory. The NSE will fund the programs while the state provides venues to equip youth with high-demand financial sector skills.
- Milestone for SIPARD: With this partnership, SIPARD has become one of the first state government training institutes in the country to collaborate directly with the NSE to build a certified network of Master Trainers for widespread financial education.
- Support for MSMEs & PSUs: The initiative aims to support Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Tripura Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) by exploring listing mechanisms and bond markets to raise capital beyond traditional bank loans.
Chief Minister Emphasizes Safe Investments & Skilling
Addressing the gathering at Pragna Bhavan, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that the collaboration opens a new chapter in Tripura’s journey toward inclusive economic growth.
”In the past, many citizens in Tripura suffered severe losses due to unregulated fraudulent chit fund companies like Saradha and Rose Valley. Raising awareness about SEBI-regulated, safe investment avenues is crucial,” stated Dr. Saha. He noted that financial services require minimal physical infrastructure—often just a laptop, internet, and certified skills—making capital market education an ideal driver of employment for the state’s youth.
The event concluded with officials expressing confidence that the strategic alignment with the NSE will transform local talent into financial market professionals and foster a sustainable investment ecosystem across Tripura.
