The successful operation by the Tripura Police in Agartala has dealt a major blow to the illegal drug trade in the region. The arrest of Shukku Mia, a notorious drug peddler, and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics is a significant development in the fight against drug trafficking in Tripura.
The raid, which took place in the Motinagar area under West District, was the result of a tip-off received by the Amtali police station. Led by Officer-in-Charge Himadri Sarkar and second officer Mrinal Kanti Pal, the police team raided Shukku Mia’s residence and uncovered a stash of illegal drugs. A total of 50 vials of brown sugar, 130 Yaba tablets, and 33 grams of brown sugar were seized during the operation.
Shukku Mia was promptly arrested and taken into custody for further investigation. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and he is set to appear in court on Saturday for further legal proceedings.
Officer-in-Charge Himadri Sarkar emphasized the police department’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace in the area. He vowed to intensify efforts to target other locations involved in drug distribution, such as shops and residences used as fronts for illegal activities.
The successful bust of this major drug racket in Agartala is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Tripura Police in combating drug trafficking in the region.
