Tripura police have detained 13 individuals from Bangladesh who are reportedly linked to the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti, an organization based in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. The group, consisting of 11 men and two women, was apprehended late Tuesday night from a rented house in the Hapania area of West Tripura District.
According to intelligence officials who spoke with India Today NE, the detainees claimed to be members of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti and had entered Tripura six days ago in search of medical treatment. Six of the individuals have burn and cut injuries on their legs and were seeking treatment in the state.
The detained individuals have been identified as Thuithui Mog (23), Angla Mog (35), Rumel Chakma (27), Aoj Chakma (30), Dravid Chakma (24), Ramen Chakma (24), Mik Chakma (28), Nirbhoy Chakma (27), Choice Chakma (21), Bitu Chakma (17), Kimon Chakma (22), Purna Chakma (24), and Nayanchi Mog (21).
The Tripura Police are currently investigating the matter further and working to determine the exact nature of the detainees’ involvement with the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti. The incident has raised concerns about potential cross-border activities and the need for increased vigilance in the region.
