Tripura is taking proactive steps to enhance its healthcare infrastructure by seeking support from AIIMS-New Delhi, one of the leading medical institutions in India. The state is prioritizing the improvement of healthcare facilities and is looking to collaborate with AIIMS-New Delhi to achieve this goal.
A four-member team from AIIMS-New Delhi, led by its Director M Srinivas, is set to visit Tripura on June 7 for a two-day visit. The team will meet with Chief Minister Manik Saha and visit the GBP Hospital and Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC) to discuss ways to enhance healthcare facilities in the state.
Health Secretary Kiran Gitte expressed the state’s eagerness to enhance collaboration with AIIMS-New Delhi for research, development, and hospital management to improve overall healthcare in Tripura. The visit is seen as an opportunity to identify existing facilities, address shortcomings, and explore ways to upgrade services at GBP Hospital, which sees around 2,000 patients in its outpatient department daily.
Deputy Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital, Kanak Chowdhury, highlighted the importance of AIIMS’ assistance in guiding the upgrading of healthcare facilities at the state’s premier hospital. He mentioned that seven super-specialty departments, including neurosurgery and urology, have already been introduced at the hospital, and the AIIMS team’s expertise will further benefit Tripura’s healthcare professionals.
Overall, the collaboration with AIIMS-New Delhi is expected to result in significant improvements in Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure, benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals in the state.
