Tripura’s very own Prof. Arunoday Saha has made the state proud by being honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi. The award ceremony took place on April 28, where the President presented various Padma awards to deserving individuals, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
Prof. Arunoday Saha is a distinguished academician and a renowned literary personality with a wide readership both in India and abroad. He is an economist by profession and has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, as well as the Chairman of Tripura State Higher Education Council. Born in the Sepahijala district of Tripura on February 4th, 1948, Prof. Saha completed his education from various institutes, including Bishalgarh Higher Secondary School, Umakanta Academy, M.B.B. College in Tripura, Presidency College in Kolkata, Calcutta University, and Utah State University in the USA.
