AGARTALA: In a major initiative aimed at modernizing traffic law enforcement, ensuring public safety, and streamlining road regulation management across the state, a comprehensive two-day workshop on the “Motor Vehicles Act and Associated Rules” commenced today. The state-level sensitization program, designed exclusively for Tripura Police officers and enforcement personnel, was inaugurated at the Pragna Bhavan auditorium in Agartala.
The crucial training workshop was formally launched by the Chief Guest, Tripura’s Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
The main objective of this multi-session seminar is to equip state police officers, traffic inspectors, and department officials with the latest structural updates, legal amendments, and technical aspects of the amended central Motor Vehicles Act. It focuses extensively on lowering accident rates, checking document authentications, and implementing smart digital fine management systems on the ground.
Addressing the gathering at Pragna Bhavan, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized that ensuring road discipline is not just about penalizing violators, but about safeguarding human lives. He noted that close structural cooperation between the state transport department and the Tripura Police is essential to developing a completely transparent and corruption-free traffic ecosystem.
”Our government is committed to modernizing Tripura’s road safety frameworks. This two-day workshop will act as a vital bridge for our law enforcement officials to understand complex clauses of the Motor Vehicles Act, manage vehicular flow scientifically, and reduce road mishaps. Public safety and smooth transit remain our topmost priorities,” Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated.
The inaugural session was attended by top brass from the Tripura Police, senior transport officials, and legal experts who will serve as key resource persons over the next two days. The workshop will include practical case studies, legal interactive sessions, and training modules to enable officers to smoothly resolve everyday highway enforcement disputes and manage urban congestion.
