Agartala, Tripura: In a joint operation conducted on Tuesday morning, Tripura Police, Assam Police, and other security agencies detained Jagir Mia from the Joypur area under the jurisdiction of West Police Station. The detained individual is the son of Hanif Mia.
According to police sources, Jagir Mia is accused of being an active member of an organisation named Imam Mahamude Kafila, which is alleged to be a frontal or affiliate group of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
West Police Station registered a case against the accused under sections 143/147/148/149/150/152/113(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with sections 10/13/16/38/39/40 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Following his detention, Jagir Mia was produced before a court for further legal proceedings.
Police officials stated that the operation was carried out based on intelligence inputs and that further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the accused’s activities and possible links.

Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh, commonly known as JMB, is a Bangladesh-based militant organisation. It has been designated as a terrorist group by Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The organisation was founded in April 1998 in Palampur, Dhaka Division, by Shaikh Abdur Rahman.
