AGARTALA: In a proactive move to bridge the gap between government policies and public awareness, the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Agartala, organized a day-long media workshop titled ‘Bartalap’ at the Agartala Press Club today. The workshop focused on a wide array of national initiatives, including the VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission), Women and Children Empowerment, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, and the ongoing celebrations marking 150 Years of Vande Mataram.
Dignitaries and Keynote Addresses
The workshop was attended by a host of distinguished personalities and stakeholders:
- Pranab Sarkar, President of Agartala Press Club.
- Brigadier Nishant Chandel, DIG, 21 Sector Assam Rifles.
- Smt. Chameli Saha, Member of the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TCPCR).
- Asit Kumar Das, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), West Tripura.
- Achintya Kilickdar, Deputy Commissioner, Social Welfare & Social Education Department.
Focus on ‘VB-G RAM G’ and Rural Growth
The workshop provided detailed insights into the newly enacted VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, which has replaced the older MGNREGA framework. Speakers highlighted that this new mission now guarantees 125 days of wage employment (up from 100 days) and focuses on creating “transformative rural assets” while ensuring 100% digital transparency and biometric accountability.
The Fight Against Drug Menace
A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA). Brigadier Nishant Chandel of the Assam Rifles delivered a powerful message on parental responsibility. He cautioned that modern parenting challenges, such as excessive smartphone use and lack of quality time, are making children vulnerable to external negative influences and drug addiction. He urged the media and parents to act as the first line of defense to shield the youth from the “deadly grip of narcotics.”
Women and Children Empowerment
Smt. Chameli Saha and other officials discussed the state’s progress in child protection and women’s welfare. They emphasized that empowerment begins with safety and education. The workshop also touched upon the nationwide campaign to end child marriage and the various helplines available for women in distress.
Celebrating 150 Years of Vande Mataram
Marking the historic milestone of the National Song, the participants reflected on the year-long commemoration of 150 Years of Vande Mataram. The speakers reminded the audience that the song remains a symbol of India’s unity and resilience, urging the youth to carry forward its patriotic spirit toward the goal of a Viksit Bharat @2047.
Media’s Role in Nation Building
In his address, Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar thanked the PIB for organizing such informative sessions. He stressed that journalists play a crucial role in taking these “grassroots-level schemes” to the last person in the village.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session where journalists and officials discussed the challenges of implementing central schemes in the hilly terrains of Tripura.
