Agartala: In a moving tribute to his father and renowned businessman, Late Makhan Lal Saha, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, organized a voluntary blood donation camp today at his official residence. The event marked the 28th Death Anniversary of the late patriarch and saw a massive outpouring of support from the local community, students, and political leaders.
This year’s camp, the 11th consecutive edition organized under the banner of ML Plaza, transformed the Chief Minister’s residence into a hub of humanitarian service. Dr. Saha, who is himself a surgeon, has consistently advocated for blood donation, turning his father’s memorial day into a life-saving mission for the state’s blood banks.
Honoring a Pious Legacy
While inaugurating the camp by lighting the ceremonial lamp, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha grew emotional as he recalled his father’s ideals. He described Late Makhan Lal Saha as a deeply pious and social-minded individual whose life was dedicated to the welfare of others.
“My father always believed that serving humanity is the highest form of worship. There is no greater donation than blood, as it transcends all barriers of religion and caste to save lives,” the Chief Minister stated. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the donors, particularly the youth, who stepped forward to participate in this noble cause.

Social Responsibility and Health Advocacy
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister urged the people of Tripura to institutionalize blood donation by organizing camps on significant personal dates like birthdays and anniversaries. He noted that due to the increased awareness and frequent camps, Tripura has significantly improved its blood bank stocks, ensuring that no patient in the state suffers due to a shortage of blood.
