AGARTALA: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Tripura” (Drug-Free Tripura) campaign, the East Agartala Police apprehended three individuals and seized a substantial quantity of contraband from the Dhaleswar area. The operation, conducted based on specific intelligence, has dealt a blow to the local narcotics supply chain in the state capital.
The primary suspect, identified as Prasenjit De (alias Kudu), was detained from the Dhaleswar Road No. 10 locality during a targeted raid.
The Operation and Seizure
Acting on a tip-off, a special team from the East Agartala Police Station intercepted Prasenjit De. Following his detention and subsequent search, the police recovered a significant cache of synthetic drugs. Based on the information provided by the suspect during initial on-site questioning, the police carried out follow-up raids that led to the arrest of two more accomplices.
Total Contraband Seized:
- Yaba Tablets: 1,800 pieces.
- Brown Sugar: 11 grams.
Official Police Briefing
Speaking to the media regarding the success of the operation, Additional SP Dhruba Nath confirmed the details of the arrests and the value of the seized items.
”Based on secret information, our team first intercepted Prasenjit De in the Dhaleswar Road 10 area. His interrogation led us to two other associates involved in this illegal trade. We have successfully seized 1,800 Yaba tablets and 11 grams of Brown Sugar. This group was actively involved in distributing these toxins among the youth of Agartala,” the Additional SP stated.
Legal Proceedings
The police have registered a case against the three accused under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. All three individuals are scheduled to be produced before the local court today.
The police are expected to seek police remand for the trio to further investigate the source of the drugs and uncover potential links to larger trafficking networks operating across the border or from neighboring states.
