AGARTALA: In a massive show of organizational strength, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tripura Pradesh organized a mega-induction ceremony (Maha Yogdan Sabha) at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan today. The event witnessed a significant shift in the state’s political landscape as 3,189 voters representing 1,336 families from various opposition parties officially joined the saffron fold.
The new members were welcomed by a galaxy of top leaders, including Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, and Minister Santana Chakma, among others.
A Massive Mandate for Development
The scale of today’s joining is being viewed as a clear indicator of the dwindling influence of opposition parties in both urban and rural pockets. The new inductees reportedly hail from diverse backgrounds, including former supporters of the CPIM, Congress, and regional outfits.
Key Highlights of the Event:
- Scale of Joining: 1,336 families (3,189 individual voters) took the BJP primary membership.
- Leadership Presence: The Chief Minister personally handed over the party flag to several key veteran leaders who left the opposition.
- Unified Front: Leaders emphasized that the “pro-people” policies of the double-engine government are the primary reason for this mass exodus from other parties.
CM Dr. Manik Saha on Pradyot Kishore Debbarma
Following the ceremony, the Chief Minister interacted with the media and addressed several burning political questions. When specifically asked about the recent statements and political positioning of Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, Dr. Saha maintained a firm yet diplomatic stance.
Addressing the rumors and the shifting dynamics of the alliance, the Chief Minister remarked:
”Pradyot Kishore Debbarma is a significant figure, and we have always respected the sentiments of the people he represents. However, in politics, consistency and the development of the state must come first. Our doors are open to those who want to work within the framework of the Indian Constitution for the welfare of the ‘Tribasa’ and all citizens. We are focused on ‘Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura,’ and we welcome anyone who prioritizes the state’s progress over individual political rhetoric.”
“Opposition is Becoming Rootless”: Rajib Bhattacharjee
State President Rajib Bhattacharjee asserted that the mass joining proves the opposition has become “rootless” in Tripura. He noted that the people have realized that only the BJP can provide a stable government and long-term economic growth.
Minister Santana Chakma also addressed the new members, particularly welcoming the women and youth who joined in large numbers, urging them to take the message of central and state welfare schemes to every household in their respective localities.
