AGARTALA: In a striking departure from standard VIP protocol, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and Ramnagar MLA Dipak Majumder has taken a unique, hands-on approach to public service. Leaving behind his official government luxury vehicle, the Mayor has decided to navigate the narrow lanes and congested corners of his constituency on a newly acquired, eco-friendly electric scooter (EV scooty) to connect directly with the local populace.
The initiative aims to address civic grievances in the tightly packed residential pockets of the Ramnagar assembly constituency where four-wheeler access is virtually impossible.
Speaking to the media after acquiring the green vehicle, Mayor Dipak Majumder explained that his decision was deeply inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha’s vision of promoting green energy, reducing carbon footprints, and ensuring pollution-free urban environments.
Under this grassroots public outreach campaign, the Mayor plans to ride his electric scooty every morning from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM to personally visit various wards, inspect ongoing civic projects, and interact with families at their doorsteps. He will also use the eco-friendly scooter to attend social gatherings and meet local youth clubs during the evenings.
”There are numerous narrow bypasses and congested lanes in Ramnagar where larger vehicles simply cannot enter. To truly understand the daily challenges of my residents and to have open, informal dialogues with them, this e-scooty will serve as a perfect medium. It is completely noise-free and zero-emission. Furthermore, my official government vehicle will strictly be used for formal AMC and ministerial duties, while I will rely entirely on this scooter for my personal and constituency-level public service,” stated AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder.
The Mayor’s grounded approach has earned immense appreciation from the residents of Ramnagar and across Agartala. By breaking away from typical bureaucratic formalities to ride a scooter directly to the doorsteps of everyday citizens, Majumder has set a rare and highly praised benchmark for public representatives in the state.
