AGARTALA: To formally announce the details and spiritual significance of the upcoming annual Rath Yatra festival, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) organized a high-profile press conference at the Purbasha Ground in Agartala on Tuesday.
The media briefing was addressed by ISKCON Agartala Vice-President Sridham Govinda Das alongside other senior management members of the committee.
Addressing the journalists, Sridham Govinda Das highlighted that Rath Yatra is one of the most sacred festivals of the Vaishnava tradition, carrying Lord Jagannath’s divine message of universal love, compassion, and communal harmony. The main attraction of this year’s festival will be the magnificent procession of three beautifully decorated individual chariots carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra, accompanied by mass Hari-naam Sankirtan, bhajans, devotional dances, and cultural presentations.
The grand ISKCON Rath Yatra will commence on Thursday, July 16, from the Purbasha Ground premises. The vibrant chariot convoy will traverse through the major thoroughfares of Agartala city before smoothly returning to the Purbasha Ground for its final halt.
The ISKCON management confirmed that the auspicious inaugural ceremony will be graced by the Governor of Tripura as the Chief Guest, alongside state Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy as the Special Guest.
Elaborate arrangements, including the distribution of Maha-Prasadam for thousands of expected devotees, medical aid kiosks, and emergency safety cordons, have been fully put in place in close coordination with the state administration and Agartala traffic police to ensure a seamless execution of the historic celebration
