AGARTALA: Aimed at strengthening the socio-legal safety net for vulnerable children and raising comprehensive awareness about institutional support systems, a critical district-level interactive and sensitization workshop on “Sponsorship and Foster Care” was successfully organized today. The institutional program was convened at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala.
The event targeted beneficiaries, social workers, child protection officers, and multi-sectoral stakeholders from across the West Tripura district to review structural challenges and ensure smooth distribution channels for child care benefits.
The high-profile workshop was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil.
Addressing the gathering at Muktadhara, Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil highlighted the state government’s unyielding commitment to safeguarding the rights of orphaned, distressed, and socially disadvantaged children. He noted that central and state-sponsored sponsorship and foster care frameworks are vital to ensuring that no child is deprived of standard education, healthcare, and nutrition due to extreme financial backwardness or lack of parental guidance.
”Children are the future architects of Tripura. Our primary target is to make certain that eligible beneficiaries receive non-institutional financial aid seamlessly through active digital pipelines. We must institutionalize a compassionate foster care ecosystem within our communities so that every vulnerable child gets a supportive family environment to grow,” stated West Tripura Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil.
During the technical interactive sessions, senior administrative officers from the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education (SW&SE) along with members of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) explained the detailed operational parameters, legal guidelines, and application processes for securing child sponsorship. Prominent social care activists, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members, and district officers were present to streamline the execution of child safety projects in West Tripura.
