Just a short spell of light rain was enough to completely paralyse life in the capital city today, exposing the fragile state of Agartala’s drainage network. Key roads, residential neighborhoods, and major commercial hubs across the city were left inundated, turning busy thoroughfares into virtual watercourses within a matter of hours.
Shocking visuals from several parts of Agartala showed multiple cars, two-wheelers, and auto-rickshaws partially submerged under floodwaters, leaving commuters stranded and triggering massive traffic congestion. Frustrated locals expressed sharp resentment against municipal authorities, pointing out that even minimal rainfall leads to severe urban flooding. With water entering commercial shops and low-lying residential houses, citizens are demanding immediate and effective drainage intervention from the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
