AGARTALA: To review the progress and quality of ongoing infrastructure projects across the capital city, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, accompanied by senior administrative and municipal engineers, conducted an extensive field inspection of road and drainage construction works today.
The inspection aimed to ensure timely completion, structural quality, and proper water discharge planning under the Agartala Smart City Mission ahead of the monsoon season.
On-Site Inspection of Key Projects
Mayor Dipak Majumder, alongside local ward councillors, engineers, and Smart City project officials, visited several strategic stretches across the city where major road widening, drainage modernizations, and underground conduit laying works are currently underway.
During the visit, the Mayor personally interacted with site engineers, contractors, and local residents to assess the execution speed and address public grievances regarding temporary civic disruptions.
Strict Directives for Quality and Timely Execution
Speaking to reporters during the inspection tour, Mayor Dipak Majumder emphasized the state government and municipal corporation’s commitment to providing long-lasting urban infrastructure.
Key Directives Issued by the Mayor:
- Strict Quality Control: The Mayor directed site engineers to strictly adhere to technical standards and ensure high-grade construction materials are used for road surfacing and drainage construction.
- Unclogging and Water Discharge: Instructions were given to clear all obstruction points along major drainage channels to prevent waterlogging during heavy rainfall.
- Timely Completion: Contractors were instructed to expedite construction activities while minimizing inconvenience to daily commuters and local shopkeepers.
Local residents expressed satisfaction over the top administration’s direct field monitoring, expressing hope that the newly developed roads and modern covered drainage systems will permanently resolve long-standing waterlogging issues in the area.
