AGARTALA, AUG 7: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura convened a major press conference at the Civil Secretariat today to outline the framework and timeline for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls across the state.
Addressing media representatives, election officials briefed journalists on the comprehensive exercise aimed at updating voter lists, ensuring door-to-door verification, and purging duplicate or invalid entries.
Key Focus Areas of the Briefing
- Comprehensive Voter List Verification: Election machinery will initiate door-to-door enumeration to register eligible young voters, update addresses, and clean up historical discrepancies.
- Inclusion & Accuracy: Special emphasis is being placed on enrolling first-time voters turning 18, as well as ensuring full coverage of indigenous tribal populations and remote border habitation areas.
- Political Party Collaboration: CEO officials urged active participation from all recognized political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to maintain complete transparency during the verification drive.
- Public Helpdesks: Dedicated facilitation counters and digital portals will be made operational across district election offices to assist citizens with claims and objections.
Detailed schedules for draft publication, field verification dates, and final electoral roll publication will be made available through local sub-divisional election offices.
