AGARTALA | July 31, 2026: What began as a minor domestic disagreement over the keys to a two-wheeler turned into a violent clash near the Trinath area adjacent to Kashipur, under the jurisdiction of the East Agartala Police Station. A man, along with his brother, father, and mother, was reportedly ambushed and severely beaten by members of his wife’s family following an argument over a scooty key.
The victims, suffering from multiple physical injuries, were eventually forced to flee the spot and seek immediate intervention and legal protection at the East Agartala Police Station.
Tensions Boil Over Minor Household Property Issue
According to local reports and the complaint lodged by the victim’s family, ongoing domestic friction between the couple reached a breaking point over a trivial issue regarding the possession and keys of a household scooty. As arguments intensified, members of the bride’s family allegedly launched a coordinated physical assault on the groom, his brother (deor), and his elderly parents inside the residential area.
The key aspects of the complaint highlighted at the police station include:
- Physical Assault on In-Laws: The victimized side alleged that the bride’s relatives used physical force, leaving the groom, his brother, and his elderly parents with visible contusions and injuries.
- Escalation to Local Police: Following the violent altercations in the Trinath locality, the injured family escaped the site and approached the officer-in-charge at the East Agartala Police Station to file an official FIR against the assailants.
- Medical Evaluation Urged: Police personnel dispatched the injured victims for primary medical examinations and documentation at a nearby state health facility before initiating formal statements.
