AGARTALA | July 31, 2026: In a solemn display of spiritual devotion and social harmony marking the nationwide preparations for the 650th birth anniversary (Jayanti) of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Ji, a sacred urn (pavitra kalash) containing holy soil from the saint’s birthplace in Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, arrived at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala today. A five-member delegation, led by Smt. Mousumi Das, safely transported the sacred soil from Uttar Pradesh to Tripura.
Upon landing at the airport, the delegation was received by hundreds of enthusiastic party workers and community members.
Grand Procession to Ramakrishna Saradeswari Temple
In accordance with traditional customs, the Pradesh President, Shri Abhishek Debroy, respectfully carried the sacred kalash on his head, leading a grand procession from the airport terminal to the historic Ramakrishna Saradeswari Temple located in Akhaura, Agartala.
The ceremonial procession saw party office-bearers and local devotees walking along the route, chanting devotional hymns and celebrating the timeless teachings of equality, dignity, and fraternity espoused by Sant Ravidas Ji.
Key highlights of the reception and placement ceremony include:
- Sanctification at Ramakrishna Saradeswari Temple: The holy soil was placed at the main altar of the Ramakrishna Saradeswari Temple in Akhaura, where special prayers and devotional aartis were performed.
- District-Wide Distribution Plan: The temple will serve as the central repository from where regional representatives from all eight districts of Tripura will collect portions of the sacred soil.
- Grassroots Outreach: The holy soil will be carried in local Kalash Yatras across various sub-divisions and rural blocks to engage local communities and foster social unity.
