AGARTALA | June 27, 2026: In a significant humanitarian outreach focusing on senior citizen welfare, the Honorable Governor of Tripura, Shri Indrasena Reddy Nallu, today paid a sudden visit to the state-constructed government housing facility, ‘Ashray’. Located directly across from the old BT College premises in the capital, the unique residential complex serves as a dedicated sanctuary designed exclusively for retired government employees and elderly pensioners.
During his visit, the Governor personally inspected the living quarters, healthcare amenities, and basic utility layouts, while spending considerable time directly interacting with the elderly occupants to understand their grassroots experiences.
Assessing Medical and Social Security Infrastructure First-Hand
The Governor’s visit focused heavily on assessing the quality of life, dietary standardizations, and immediate medical response systems maintained at the facility. Walking through the common recreational lounges and dining units, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu engaged in open conversations with multiple pensioners, inquiring about their health conditions, seasonal water availability, and the regularity of their monthly disbursements.
Following his interactive round, the Governor met with the senior management teams and supervising social welfare officers at the spot to outline necessary upgrades.
”Our senior citizens and pensioners have dedicated the prime years of their lives to building the institutional machinery of this state. Ensuring their structural security, absolute dignity, and comprehensive health monitoring is our utmost moral obligation. I am deeply satisfied after interacting with the residents here at the ‘Ashray’ complex. However, I have given distinct directives to the municipal cells and the health department to deploy regular medical screening units and ensure premium nutritional layouts for them. We must transform ‘Ashray’ into a model for elderly care,” Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu stated during an exclusive media interaction outside the facility gates.
Key Directives Issued for the ‘Ashray’ Complex
Addressing the press pool, the Governor shared key administrative interventions that have been prioritized for immediate field execution:
- Dedicated Geriatric Care: Setting up a dedicated clinical cell with visiting doctors from GBP Hospital to conduct mandatory bi-weekly health checkups for all residents.
- Aesthetic and Leisure Upgrades: Developing well-lit walking paths, micro-gardens, and high-comfort reading zones to keep the senior residents mentally and physically active.
- Uninterrupted Civic Services: Instructing local power and water supply boards to maintain separate priority lines for the complex, ensuring zero load-shedding or utility blocks during the peak monsoon season.
The administrative panel accompanying the Governor assured that a specialized financial budget line would be mapped out under the Raj Bhavan’s welfare coordination fund to execute the structural changes smoothly.
