AGARTALA: Heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed at the official residence of Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar late this afternoon, as his mortal remains were brought back from the Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital morgue following the completion of initial post-mortem formalities.
As the ambulance carrying the deceased 1994-batch IPS officer arrived at his residence, an atmosphere of deep grief and mourning enveloped the premises. Family members, senior administrative colleagues, and police officials present on the scene were overcome with emotion.
The late DGP’s wife broke down uncontrollably upon seeing her husband’s body, requiring support from family members and lady police personnel present at the residence. Senior government functionaries, high-ranking IPS and IAS officers, and family well-wishers assembled at the residence to offer their condolences and comfort the grieving family in their hour of profound sorrow.
Arrangements are being made at his residence for relatives, dignitaries, and department colleagues to pay their final respects to the departed head of the state police force. Further protocols regarding the final rites and ceremonial honors are being coordinated by state administrative officials.
