AGARTALA | August 1, 2026: In alignment with the central government’s nationwide vision to eradicate substance abuse and empower the youth, a major district-level program titled “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” was successfully organized on Saturday, August 1, at the Gitanjali Town Hall in Ranirbazar. The event was held under the joint management of the MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) platform—operating under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India—and the local NGO Diganta Social Organization.
The high-energy program aimed at raising grassroots awareness against drug addiction, fostering community action, and inspiring youth to contribute toward a healthier, substance-free society.
High-Profile Dignitaries Mobilize Youth Against Substance Abuse
The event was formally inaugurated by Shri Tutan Tapadhar, Secretary of National Youth Project (NYP). The inaugural session was graced by several prominent dignitaries, community leaders, and law enforcement officials, including:
- Shri Tapas Biswas, President of Diganta Social Organization.
- Shri Ajit Pal, Sub-Inspector (SI), Ranirbazar Police Station.
- Key district representatives and youth coordinators from the MY Bharat platform.
Addressing the assembly, the guests emphasized that freeing the state and nation from the menace of narcotics is the single most vital prerequisite for achieving the vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat).
Multidisciplinary Competitions Engenders Student Participation
To directly involve the younger generation in the anti-drug crusade, the organizers conducted a multi-tiered competitive event featuring 8 distinct competition categories centered around the theme of addiction recovery, mental health, and civic awareness.
More than 300 to 400 participants—comprising students from various schools across the Ranirbazar region, youth volunteers, and local social organization members—actively participated in the day-long programs.
Key highlights of the event included:
- Creative Awareness Contests: Students showcased their perspectives through poster-making, essay writing, poetry recitation, and thematic drama performances.
- Felicitation & Award Distribution: Winners across all 8 competition categories were honored with official certificates and trophies during the closing valedictory ceremony.
- Community Anti-Drug Pledge: Dignitaries and students took a collective pledge to refrain from substance use and advocate for drug-free neighborhoods across West Tripura district.
