AGARTALA | July 8, 2026: In a heartening display of community solidarity and humanitarian responsibility, the Agartala-based social welfare organization ‘Sat Bhabna’ has stepped forward to support 22-month-old toddler Manashree Chowdhury, who is currently fighting a rare and fatal genetic disorder. On Wednesday afternoon, executive members of the organization visited the child’s residence at Hapania Choumuhani Para to hand over a financial aid package of ₹86,000 directly to her parents.
The collective intervention comes at a critical time for the family, as medical evaluations indicate that the infant is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)—a severe neuromuscular condition requiring exceptionally high-cost gene therapy and specialized pediatric intervention.
Rallies Local Support to Combat Prohibitive Medical Costs
Recognizing that the total cost of standard life-saving SMA drugs and advanced multi-disciplinary treatment can run into millions of rupees—far beyond the financial reach of a middle-class household—members of ‘Sat Bhabna’ mobilized an immediate internal donation drive to generate the initial emergency capital.
The delegation spent time interacting with Manashree’s mother, reviewing her latest clinical progress charts, and discussing logistics regarding her imminent treatment phases at premier neurological institutes outside the state.
”When we learned that little Manashree is fighting an aggressive condition like Spinal Muscular Atrophy at just 22 months old, we felt an immediate moral obligation to act. The financial mountain this family has to climb is immense, and no single household can bear this burden alone. Our contribution today is a small step, but it represents our collective prayer and commitment to her recovery. From the platform of ‘Sat Bhabna,’ we issue a solemn, earnest appeal to every right-thinking citizen, philanthropic society, non-governmental organization, and business house across Tripura to extend their helping hands according to their capacities. It is only through our combined humane efforts that we can ensure this precious child gets a fair chance at life,” a senior executive member of ‘Sat Bhabna’ stated during the interaction.
Community Mobilization Gathers Momentum in Hapania
Local community leaders noted that ‘Sat Bhabna’s’ swift field intervention has injected fresh hope into the neighborhood’s ongoing crowdfunding efforts. Following the political solidarity visits earlier in the week, the entry of active non-profit groups has helped streamline fundraising channels.
The organization pledged to maintain regular contact with the family’s local tracking committee, offering to assist with future digital crowdfunding drives and helping coordinate official applications for emergency grants from both state and central healthcare welfare funds.
