AGARTALA: In a major push to strengthen the waste management infrastructure under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), the West Tripura District Administration has introduced a new fleet of sanitation vehicles. A colorful flagging-off ceremony was organized today in the courtyard of the West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector’s office, where six state-of-the-art garbage collection vehicles were officially commissioned into service.
The formal flag-off was jointly performed by West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar and West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati (Chairperson) Biswajit Shil.
A New Chapter in Cleanliness
This initiative has been taken to expand the scope of the cleanliness drive beyond urban boundaries into semi-urban and rural pockets of the district. The newly deployed dumper vehicles will collect domestic and commercial waste on a daily basis from densely populated hubs and transport it to designated solid waste management recycling units.
Key Highlights of the Mobilization:
- Fleet Deployment: Six modern tipping vehicles have been introduced in the initial phase of this rural cluster expansion.
- Sanitation Mapping: The vehicles will help eliminate roadside garbage vulnerable points and reduce environmental pollution.
- Integrated Execution: The project aligns strictly with the structural guidelines of the national Swachh Bharat Mission.
“Public Cooperation is the Key to Success”: DM Dr. Vishal Kumar
Interacting with media personnel at the launch site, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar emphasized that administrative infrastructure can only yield results when backed by civic awareness.
”Our administration is working relentlessly to achieve the absolute goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission. The six vehicles introduced today will play a major role in keeping our district clean and plastic-free. However, government vehicles alone cannot clean a society—the citizens must take ownership. We urge everyone to segment their household waste and hand it over to these designated collectors instead of littering,” District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar stated.
Focus on Transforming Rural Blocks
West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil noted that the local tier governance is committed to transforming every village panchayat into a model clean zone. These vehicles are designed to accelerate the pace of Solid Waste Management (SWM) implementation at the village level.
The event concluded with the departure of the fleet to their designated blocks. The ceremony was attended by senior administrative officials, municipal representatives, and nodal officers of the Swachh Bharat Mission cell.
