AGARTALA: In a major administrative milestone ahead of the country’s massive statistical operation, the West Tripura District Administration has successfully finalized its master framework for the upcoming Census of India-2027. To reveal the structural guidelines and highlight the newly integrated digital provisions, West Tripura DM & Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar hosted a high-profile press conference today, July 14, at 5 PM in the central Conference Hall of the DM Office in Agartala.
Addressing media personnel, Dr. Vishal Kumar detailed that the Census-2027 will be executed in two distinct, streamlined phases across the district. The first phase—the House Listing Operation (HLO)—is slated to run door-to-door from August 1 to August 30, 2026. Following this, the main individual population enumeration phase will be rolled out in February 2027.
The central focus of today’s briefing was the historic introduction of “Self-Enumeration”, allowing citizens to register their household details digitally for the very first time. For the general public, the dedicated online census portal will open from July 26 to July 31, 2026, allowing families to log in daily between 6:00 AM and 12:00 AM to securely feed their information.
To set a standard for civic compliance, the district administration has mandated that all West Tripura government officials, field-level ASHA workers, Anganwadi personnel, and Panchayat executives complete their personal self-enumeration ahead of schedule on July 18.
”The inclusion of digital self-enumeration marks a massive paradigm shift toward transparent governance in Tripura. It simplifies data verification and significantly reduces the door-to-door workload for our field teams. We strictly assure our residents that all individual and family parameters fed into the portal will be kept entirely confidential, serving only as statistical indicators for future developmental policies,” stated West Tripura DM Dr. Vishal Kumar.
The DM further stated that institutional preparations, including data mapping for house listing blocks and the formal allocation of work descriptions for enumerators and supervisors, are fully finalized. Specialized training modules for the district’s vast network of government staff and teachers selected as field personnel will be officially concluded by July 16. The district authority has appealed to all local residential bodies and elected representatives to actively spread grassroot awareness so that maximum public participation is recorded during the online self-enumeration window.
