Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired a crucial meeting on Friday with officials from the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to evaluate the status of various highway projects in the state.
The meeting, which was attended by NHIDCL’s top officials including Director (Technical) Amarendra Kumar, Executive Director (Technical) Trivendra Kumar, and Executive Director (Projects) Ajay Bishnoi, focused on the progress of ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects.
During the review, Dr. Saha expressed his concerns about the deteriorating condition of certain road sections, particularly the Khowai–Kamalpur section of NH-208 and the Churaibari–Panisagar section of NH-08. He instructed NHIDCL to expedite repair and maintenance works on these critical stretches, which are currently in a severely damaged state.
NHIDCL officials provided detailed updates on a range of projects, including the Agartala Western Bypass, Four-laning of the Churaibari–Sabroom section of NH-08, Agartala Eastern Bypass, and the development of the Udaipur–Amarpur section as a spur of NH-08.
Dr. Saha stressed the significance of these projects in improving connectivity, fostering regional development, and ensuring smooth transportation across Tripura. He urged the relevant departments to adhere to quality standards and complete the projects within the specified timelines.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to accelerating the pace of highway development in the state and addressing key infrastructure bottlenecks. Dr. Saha reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing the state’s infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of its citizens through robust transportation networks.
