
AGARTALA: In a bid to assess the quality of public healthcare delivery during extended hours, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha paid a surprise visit to the Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital in Agartala to personally inspect the newly introduced evening Out-Patient Department (OPD) services.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected various departments, reviewed the attendance of doctors and medical staff, and checked the availability of essential medicines at the pharmacy counters.
Dr. Manik Saha also interacted directly with the patients and their family members waiting at the OPD to gather first-hand feedback regarding the treatment facilities, waiting times, and the behavior of the hospital staff.
Speaking to the media post-inspection, the Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to transforming the healthcare sector. He emphasized that the evening OPD services were launched to reduce the heavy morning rush and to ensure that working-class citizens can access quality medical consultation after regular hours. He directed the hospital authorities to maintain strict cleanliness, ensure uninterrupted services, and make certain that no patient is turned away without proper care.
