The Tripura Congress has launched a scathing attack on the state government for allegedly excluding opposition parties during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the PRASAD project at the Mata Tripurasundari Temple. Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha expressed his disappointment over the matter, labeling it as a reflection of the BJP’s “one-party attitude.”
Saha criticized the government for not inviting opposition parties to the official function, stating that the Prime Minister represents all citizens and it is customary to include opposition leaders in such events. He accused the BJP of politicizing the temple, claiming that they have made it seem like the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple is exclusively for the ruling party.
He urged civil society to protest against the government’s alleged partisan approach and called the situation highly condemnable. Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman also condemned the exclusion on social media, emphasizing that the Prime Minister represents the entire country and not just a particular political party.
Barman criticized the government for its indecency in not inviting MLAs or office bearers from other parties to the inauguration of the new architecture at the temple. He highlighted the ruling party’s willingness to partake in political games even in matters concerning religious and cultural events.
The strong reaction from the Congress party sheds light on the growing concerns about the politicization of religious and cultural events in the state. This incident has sparked a debate on the importance of inclusivity and neutrality in government functions, especially when it comes to sacred places like temples.
