AGARTALA: Tripura has recorded a significant decline in malaria infection rates, thanks to continuous monitoring, rapid diagnosis, and the delivery of timely, comprehensive medical services.
State Health Secretary Kiran Gitte shared this milestone on Thursday during the inaugural session of a regional review meeting for Northeastern states under the Intensive Malaria Elimination Project. The high-level review meeting is scheduled to run for three days.
Addressing the gathering, the Health Secretary highlighted the state’s structured efforts to combat the vector-borne disease. He emphasized that Tripura’s success in drastically lowering transmission rates is the direct result of robust active surveillance, swift diagnostic interventions at the grassroots level, and ensuring that patients receive complete, uninterrupted treatment.
The three-day regional conference brings together health department officials, experts, and stakeholders from across Northeast India. The summit aims to assess the current progress of the malaria eradication program, share best practices among neighboring states, and address localized challenges to achieve a malaria-free Northeast.
