Tripura is on the brink of a tourism infrastructure revamp as Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha prepares to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple tourism projects worth a whopping Rs 115 crore. The announcement was made by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday, signaling a significant boost for the state’s tourism sector.
The aim of the state government, through the Tourism Department, is to position Tripura as a key player on the national and global tourism map by developing culturally and spiritually significant attractions. One of the key highlights of the upcoming projects is the construction of an exact replica of the 51 Shakti Peethas, to be built at Bandowar in Udaipur, Gomati district, at a cost of ₹97.70 crore. This mega spiritual tourism project is expected to become a major pilgrimage destination in the region and is set to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on July 10.
In addition to this landmark project, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for other tourism infrastructure works worth ₹18 crore. These projects are geared towards enhancing facilities and overall visitor experience. One such initiative includes the renovation of the Kasba View Lodge, located in the premises of the historic Kasbeshwari Temple in Kamalasagar, Sepahijala district. The lodge is currently undergoing redevelopment and is expected to be completed in the near future.
Minister Chowdhury, along with local MLA and senior officials, visited the site on Tuesday to review progress and ensure timely completion of work without compromising on quality. “Our continuous efforts are focused on improving infrastructure and providing tourist-friendly experiences,” he stated.
With these projects, the state government aims to establish Tripura as a prominent cultural and spiritual tourism destination in Northeast India. The upcoming developments are expected to attract a significant influx of tourists and bolster the state’s economy through increased tourism revenue.
