AGARTALA: In a major step toward urban rejuvenation and the preservation of heritage water bodies, Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha officially inaugurates the newly completed Development and Beautification Project of the historic Shib Bari Pond. The grand inauguration ceremony is took place today July 11, 2026, at 4:30 PM at the Shib Bari premises on Central Road, Agartala.
The rejuvenation project, executed under the close supervision of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), has transformed the once-neglected water reservoir into a beautiful community asset. Executed with a dedicated budget, the project features modern amenities including paved walking pathways, decorative illumination, comfortable seating arrangements for visitors, and beautifully reconstructed concrete stairs (ghats) providing safe access to the water.
This initiative is part of the state government’s larger mission to restore ecological balance, eliminate urban congestion, and create aesthetic recreational spaces for local residents. The water of the Shib Bari pond has been completely cleaned and treated under this scheme to ensure it remains sustainable and usable.
The inauguration event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, senior municipal officials, and local administrative representatives. The administration has invited local residents to witness this milestone development that promises to significantly enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Central Road area.
