Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, made a significant announcement on Sunday regarding the sanctioning of an Organic Fisheries Cluster for Tripura. This initiative will mark the second such cluster in the country, following the establishment of a similar cluster in Sikkim.
The announcement was made during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Integrated Aqua Park and the inauguration of the Fish Festival at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. Minister Singh highlighted the tremendous development that Tripura has witnessed in the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He emphasized the Prime Minister’s commitment to transforming India into a developed nation by 2047 and the focus on development in the Northeast region. Minister Singh mentioned the importance of the fishery sector in boosting the rural economy and highlighted the potential for growth in fish production in Tripura.
Minister Singh discussed the separation of fishery and animal husbandry from agriculture in 2014, leading to the introduction of various schemes to promote these sectors. He praised India’s remarkable progress in fish production, with the country now ranking second globally.
The Minister also emphasized the significance of organic farming and announced the upcoming establishment of an Organic Fisheries Cluster in Tripura. This cluster is expected to drive organic fish production and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
Minister Singh urged for the timely completion of the Integrated Aqua Park to maximize its benefits for the people. He expressed confidence in Tripura’s potential for innovation in fish farming and highlighted the importance of leveraging these opportunities for economic development.
