The Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a campaign aimed at reaching out to farmers in Tripura and providing them with the necessary knowledge and tools to improve their agricultural practices, has gained significant momentum in the state. Launched on May 29 with the goal of connecting with 1.72 lakh farmers, the campaign has already covered 1.1 lakh farmers within just one week.
Officials from the Tripura Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department have reported that the response to the campaign has been overwhelming, with both farmers and the general public showing great enthusiasm for the initiative. With 72 meetings being conducted daily across all districts, the campaign is on track to surpass its target well before the scheduled deadline.
A senior department official stated, “Today marks the seventh day of the campaign, and we have already reached 1,01,389 lakh farmers. We are confident of crossing the target of 1.72 lakh farmers by the end of the campaign.” The official also mentioned that Tripura has been commended by the central government for effectively implementing the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, with active participation from leaders and public representatives.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the campaign at Shalgara village in Gomati district, emphasizing the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare. Minister Nath highlighted the role of the eight Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Tripura, which are now actively guiding farmers and conducting agricultural research to help improve crop yields.
Additionally, Minister Nath mentioned the recent launch of mobile soil testing vans, which are aimed at assisting farmers in analyzing soil health and optimizing cultivation techniques. “Our government is committed to inclusive development. We are ensuring that farmers are equipped with the right knowledge and tools to reduce costs and increase income through scientific farming practices,” he added.
Overall, the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Tripura is making a significant impact on farmers in the state, with the government’s efforts to promote agricultural development and increase farmers’ incomes being well-received by the farming community.
