AGARTALA: In view of public safety and infrastructural vulnerability triggered by persistent heavy rainfall, the West Tripura District Administration has issued an urgent travel advisory. Commuters and local residents have been strictly advised to avoid using the Katakhal Embankment (Belebaandh) road and the Durga Choumuhani–Pragati Backside Road until further notice.
Issuing the administrative directive, West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar stated that recent torrential rains have severely damaged parts of the protective embankments and vital connecting road stretches in these zones, making them highly accident-prone and risky for vehicular movement.
To prevent any untoward incidents, the district administration has requested the general public to completely cooperate with the traffic enforcement cells and avoid these damaged passages entirely.
”Our engineering teams and disaster management units are constantly monitoring the ground situation. Crucial repair work and safety enhancements are being initiated at the vulnerable spots on priority. We earnestly request citizens to use designated alternative routes and adhere strictly to the administrative guidelines for their own safety,” District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar announced.
Civic authorities and local police have already started deploying guardrails and warning signs around the Katakhal and Durga Choumuhani perimeters to divert daily commuters safely.
