AGARTALA: As the historic trends for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections solidified, the atmosphere outside the Tripura Pradesh BJP Headquarters in Krishnanagar turned into a scene of grand jubilation. With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crossing the majority mark of 148 in West Bengal, thousands of party workers and supporters gathered to celebrate what they called a “landmark victory for the people of Bengal.”
The street in front of the party office was transformed into a corridor of light and sound as workers burst high-decibel firecrackers and lit colorful fireworks, marking a pre-Deepavali celebration in the heart of Agartala.
A Sea of Saffron and Celebration
The celebration, which began in the afternoon as soon as early leads indicated a BJP sweep, saw an outpouring of emotion from the party cadre. Supporters were seen smearing each other with saffron abir (colored powder) and distributing traditional sweets to passersby and journalists.
Key Highlights of the Event:
- Firework Display: Hundreds of firecrackers were set off in succession, creating an electric atmosphere. The sky was lit with various fireworks, drawing crowds of curious onlookers.
- Victory Slogans: The air was filled with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Narendra Modi Zindabad,” as supporters danced to the rhythmic beats of traditional drums.
- Public Joy: Local shopkeepers and residents of Krishnanagar joined in the festivities, with many describing the victory in the neighboring state as a moment of shared pride for the Bengali community.
Leaders Join the Rank and File
State leadership, including BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Vice-President Papia Datta, and Minister Tinku Roy, were seen interacting with the grassroots workers amidst the celebrations. They lauded the tireless efforts of the Karyakartas (volunteers) who traveled to Bengal for the election campaign.
”The sound of these firecrackers is not just noise; it is the sound of democracy winning in West Bengal. Today, Agartala celebrates because the people of Bengal have finally chosen a path of progress and development under the leadership of PM Modi,” Rajib Bhattacharjee told the press while standing amongst the celebrating crowd.
Impact on Traffic and Security
Due to the massive gathering and the lighting of fireworks, traffic along the Krishnanagar and City Centre road was diverted for several hours. The local police and traffic personnel were deployed in large numbers to ensure the safety of the celebrants and to manage the heavy congestion.
Despite the minor delays, the spirit of celebration remained undeterred, with the festivities continuing late into the evening. The victory in West Bengal has clearly rejuvenated the BJP unit in Tripura, setting a triumphant tone for the upcoming local administrative challenges in the state.
