AGARTALA: Marking a significant milestone in its history, the Tripura Law Clerks’ Association celebrated its 57th Foundation Day at the Agartala Court Complex today. The event served as a platform for the association to reflect on nearly six decades of service and to advocate for the rights and welfare of its members, who act as the essential link between the judiciary, lawyers, and the public.
The program was attended by senior association officials and clerks from across the state, emphasizing organizational unity and their ongoing commitment to the legal system.
A Legacy of Commitment
Since its establishment in 1969, the association has grown into a vital collective representing the interests of law clerks in Tripura. During the foundation day address, leaders noted that the profession has evolved through significant political and technological shifts, yet the core mission of supporting the judicial process remains unchanged.
Key Highlights of the Celebration:
- Flag Hoisting: The day began with a ceremonial flag-hoisting at the association’s office, followed by floral tributes to founding members.
- Collective Solidarity: Members discussed the importance of remaining organized to effectively negotiate for better working conditions and professional security.
- Service Recognition: Veteran members who have served for over three decades were honored for their contributions to the legal fraternity.
Demands for Better Welfare
While the mood was celebratory, the association leadership also used the forum to reiterate several long-standing demands to the state government and the high court authorities.
”As we mark 57 years of existence, we must address the challenges our members face. From the need for dedicated workspace within court premises to social security benefits and fixed monthly allowances, the government must recognize that the judicial system cannot function smoothly without law clerks. We are not just assistants; we are the backbone of court administration,” a senior spokesperson for the association stated.
Looking Toward a Digital Future
The 57th anniversary also focused on the “Digital India” transition within the courts. The association announced plans to conduct workshops on e-filing and digital record management to ensure that even senior members stay updated with the latest technological mandates of the High Court of Tripura.
The event concluded with a cultural program and a pledge to continue serving the litigants of Tripura with integrity and efficiency.
