Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, is set to host a spectacular celebration of Durga Puja this year, with over 230 pujas planned throughout the city. West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar announced this during a preparatory meeting held at Agartala Town Hall on Thursday.
The meeting, chaired by DM (West) Dr. Kumar, was attended by West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, Traffic SP Kanta Jangir, and other senior police and civil administration officials. Representatives of puja organising committees, decorators, and sound system providers were also present.
Dr. Kumar revealed that out of the total pujas, 230 of them would be large pandal pujas while the rest would be smaller celebrations. The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure that the festival is conducted peacefully and in an organized manner. Dr. Kumar stated, “We are here to address issues related to pandal construction, sound systems, and other logistical matters to ensure that people do not face any inconvenience during the festivities.”
He also emphasized the importance of traffic management, especially with ongoing construction works in various areas of the city. Plans for diversions and routes will be made in advance and communicated to the public before the festival begins.
SP (West) Namit Pathak highlighted the coordination required among multiple departments and puja committees to ensure smooth celebrations without any law-and-order issues. “Proper coordination between police, administration, and puja organizers will be crucial,” he said.
Durga Puja is the most significant cultural and religious festival in Tripura, attracting large crowds every year in Agartala. The city is known for its artistic pandals and vibrant celebrations. With over 230 pujas scheduled this year, authorities are focusing on security and crowd management to ensure a hassle-free festive season for all.
