AGARTALA | AUGUST 18, 2026: In a major effort to ease urban congestion and enforce strict route compliance, the Agartala Traffic Department launched a special enforcement drive against unauthorized outstation e-rickshaws (e-autos/tom-toms) operating inside the city.
The operation was conducted on Tuesday morning in the North Gate area under the direct leadership of Traffic DSP Pranab Das.
Key Directives & Enforced Guidelines
- Restrictions on Outstation E-Autos: Traffic DSP Pranab Das clarified that e-autos originating from suburban regions like Mohanpur and Amtali will no longer be permitted unrestricted entry into core city limits.
- Conditional City Entry: Outstation e-autos will be allowed entry only for essential purposes—such as carrying school/college students, emergency medical patients, or airport passengers—and must prominently display a designated board stating the reason for entry.
- Adherence to Assigned Routes: E-autos possessing valid route permits have been strictly directed to operate within their designated corridors without unauthorized detours.
- Penalties for Illegal Parking: During the drive, officers also cracked down on illegal and haphazard parking of e-autos, two-wheelers, and commercial vehicles that block main thoroughfares, issuing on-the-spot fines to violators.
Official Statement
Traffic authorities affirmed that surprise checks and spot inspections will continue across all entry points into Agartala.
