The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has raised allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly suppressing opposition voices after their party office in Bishalgarh, Sepahijala district, was reportedly vandalized and set on fire.
TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha strongly condemned the incident, claiming that individuals associated with the BJP were responsible for the attack on the Bishalgarh Congress office on October 28. Saha stated that the perpetrators not only set the office on fire but also looted and destroyed property in the process.
Saha went on to explain that this was not an isolated incident, highlighting that since the formation of the BJP government in 2018, the Bishalgarh office has been the target of multiple attacks. Furniture has been stolen, and the office has been set ablaze on several occasions. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no significant action has been taken to address the issue.
According to Saha, the BJP’s actions are aimed at obstructing opposition activities and instilling fear among party members. He claimed that every time the Congress party attempts to resume its work, they face another attack. Saha accused the ruling BJP of creating an atmosphere of fear in Bishalgarh and alleged that they are conspiring to hinder their efforts to work for the welfare of the people. He called for immediate intervention to ensure that opposition parties can operate freely in the state.
The TPCC president’s statements have drawn attention to the growing political tensions in Tripura, with opposition parties accusing the ruling BJP of using intimidation tactics to silence dissenting voices. The incident has sparked concerns about the state of democracy and freedom of expression in the region, prompting calls for a thorough investigation and measures to ensure the safety and security of all political parties in Tripura.
