Tripura, a state in northeastern India, is gearing up for the Durga Puja celebrations amidst the forecast of intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Tripura from September 28 to October 2, warning of potential heavy to very heavy rainfall in various districts.
The Meteorological Centre in Agartala has released a special bulletin detailing the weather predictions for the upcoming days. The first spell of rainfall was expected on September 27, mainly impacting Dhalai district before spreading to other regions of the state.
The forecast indicates that Tripura will experience light to moderate showers on September 28, with the intensity of rainfall increasing on September 30 and continuing through October 2. Districts such as West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura are likely to face heavy downpours of up to 11 cm.
Authorities have advised residents and puja organisers to be cautious and prepared for potential disruptions due to the inclement weather. Safety advisories have been issued to mitigate the risks associated with thunderstorms and lightning strikes. While the rainfall may provide relief from the humidity, officials are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that the Durga Puja celebrations proceed smoothly and safely.
