Tripura is on the path to achieving self-sufficiency in milk and fish production with the support of the Central government. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh announced on May 17 that a strategic team comprising members from the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, National Dairy Development Board, and National Fisheries Development Board will visit the state in July to discuss a plan for further assistance.
The minister made this announcement while inaugurating the 40 TLPD Milk Plant, Dairy Unit-II at Bamutia in the West District of Tripura. He expressed confidence in the state’s potential to become self-sufficient in milk and fish production, stating that the Central government is ready to provide all necessary support.
Singh highlighted India’s position as a leader in milk production globally, attributing this success to the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of Artificial Insemination in increasing milk production and noted that Tripura has already seen positive results in this area.
Acknowledging the efforts of Chief Minister Manik Saha and ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das, the Union Minister praised the state government for its commitment to the overall development of Tripura. He stressed the importance of supporting farmers engaged in fish and milk production to boost the state’s economy.
With discussions scheduled for June and a visit from the Central government team in July, Tripura is poised to make significant strides towards achieving self-sufficiency in milk and fish production. The collaboration between the state and the Centre is expected to result in increased productivity and economic growth in Tripura’s agriculture sector.
