Tripura Police achieved a significant victory in their battle against drug trafficking by seizing a massive 580 kilograms of cannabis with an estimated value of Rs 1 crore. The operation, carried out by officers from the Mungiakami Police Station, uncovered a sophisticated smuggling scheme that utilized two vehicles with deceptive markings.
According to officials, acting on a tip-off, Tripura Police conducted separate raids in Champlai Bari and North Maharani areas. The operation was overseen by SDPO Rohon Kisan (IPS) and led by the Officer-in-Charge of Mungiakami Police Station, with DCM Surajit Debbarma also present at the scene.
During the search, police uncovered the large quantity of marijuana concealed inside the vehicles. One individual was arrested in connection with the case and has been charged under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The seized cannabis and vehicles were brought to the Mungiakami Police Station for further investigation.
Authorities have estimated the market value of the seized drugs to be around Rs 1 crore. Police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing to determine if additional individuals are involved in the drug trafficking network.
The successful operation highlights the dedication of Tripura Police in combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents.
